Collaborating with photographer Alejandra Aragón introduced another layer of meaning. Her imagery, which often addresses the violence of the border, provides critical context for the work. The photographs feature walls of abandoned homes—spaces shaped by the displacement of families seeking safety. These visual backdrops anchor Nexus in the lived experiences of the borderlands, intertwining narratives of resilience, loss, and transformation.

Nexus continues my exploration of borders as spaces of connection and tension. The pieces, with their ambiguous forms and subtle contours, invite collaboration and require participation to be activated. These objects prompt interaction through shared effort and open interpretation.
In contrast to previous works that relied on delicate materials, Nexus employs sturdier, more substantial forms that encourage physical engagement. While the objects still symbolize a border, their fluid designs and vibrant colors challenge the harsh, imposing qualities traditionally associated with boundaries. The playful use of color serves as a gesture of invitation, countering the intimidation borders often provoke.
By pairing objects and photographs, Nexus reimagines borders as spaces for dialogue and collaboration, shifting their role from passive barriers to dynamic points of engagement.
