I Just Want to be Loved is a performance piece in which I explore the notions of what it means to be a woman in the border. Living on the border of Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, I find it close to impossible to consider myself entirely American or entirely Mexican. Do I conform to Americans expectations on physique and behavior or do I embrace the curves and contours passed down to me from my Mexican ancestors? Everyday for three months, I photograph my body from different perspectives, keep a journal and record my voice in an attempt to balance my Mexican-American humanism.
