This piece was created in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, during a time when our relationships took on entirely new meanings—relationships with each other, with door handles, with antibacterials, soaps, and cleaning products. These objects became reminders of a fleeting, ever-changing reality.

Using jabon Zote, a material both accessible and symbolic, I embraced our shared experience and paid homage to one of the few objects that made connection possible during this time: a bar of soap. It became the inheritor of all the handshakes and hugs that were meant to be given in 2020, standing in as a tangible reminder of intimacy and touch in a world marked by distance and caution.
